SECOND CHINESE BANK SET TO LAUNCH IN THE KINGDOM

Is there any improvement for Cambodian National Team?

Although we have put a lot of efforts and high commitment in building up a stronger and stronger football team in the region as well as meeting the international level but so far it remains uncertainty about the strategy that has been implementing.

In fact the improvement requires a lot of resources plus with management skill of those people in the FFC. Ok we can blame the war that prevent us from reaching the top level like the other countries in the region but at the same time we should also look at ourselves first whether we have chosen the right way in order to make ourselves ready for the qualifying round in Laos.

Relying too much on the training camp in Viet Nam is not enough at all to make Cambodia national team advance to the next round of the AFF Suzuki Cup but the thing that we should focus on is to select the best players for national squad and follows football's rule that the coach is not allowed to change the player's position unnecessarily and the coach himself should remove some players if those players are less competitive than others.

The Cambodian national football team, currently in Vietnam’s Hong Anh Gia Lai province for a preparatory camp ahead of October’s Suzuki Cup qualifiers, will be heading to Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday to play a series of friendlies against some of the V-League clubs over the next few weeks.

The squad of 25 players and four officials selected at the end of the 2010 Metfone C-league season left Phnom Penh on a 45-day training programme under the newly appointed South Korean coach Lee Tae Hoon three weeks ago. The players have been put through intensive training sessions at the Hoang Anh Gia Lai club facility, interspersed with a couple of warm up games against local outfits.

“Feed back from the coach indicated that everything was going smoothly, though Lee Tae Hoon suggested on more than one occasion that a lot needs to be done to make the side fighting fit,” said a Football Federation of Cambodia source, who wished to remain anonymous.

The next phase of the programme is considered the most crucial part of the tour, since it involves contests against some of the best V-League teams.

FFC President Sao Sokha will be travel to Vietnam tomorrow for a meeting with the Hoang Anh Gia Lai club president, and is expected to watch the national team in action during his visit.

Friendly defeat

Friendly defeat

The first result to come out of the Cambodian national team's training camp inside Vietnam is a 2-0 defeat against the Vietnamese Under 23 side, earlier today at the Thanh Long stadium. The national team coach Lee Tae-Hoon has moved his team to Saigon from their original camp at HAGL in order to play some matches, as part of their preparation for the forthcoming Suzuki Cup qualifying games in Laos. The Vietnamese U23 side, who were beaten by Malaysia in the SEA Games final at the end of last year, are also preparing for a cup competition, the Thanh Long-Hanoi Cup which will involve U23 teams from Iran, Singapore, Malaysia, Kuwait, North Korea and Australia. The Vietnamese U23 coach is Phan Thanh Hung, who just led Hanoi T&T to the 2010 V-League championship. The Vietnamese goals in today's win were scored by Van Thang and Huu Phuoc. Another friendly match between the two sides is scheduled for the Thong Nhat stadium on 21 September
